Plot (List 7 - 12 major events)
- Equality 7-2521 finds a tunnel where he goes at night and thinks about things, and makes discoveries that amaze him.
- Equality 7-2521 sees the Liberty 5-3000 (the golden one) for the first time in a field working the soil. It is forbidden for men to notice women and for women to notice men, but Equality 7-2521 couldn't stop thinking about her. The first time they meet they do not speak, but the next time the golden one asks his name.
- Equality 7-2521 doesn't watch his hour glass closely enough and returns back to the sweepers home too late. As a result he is placed in Corrective Detention, and whipped in an attempt to make him tell where he had been.
Characters (list 3 - 8 characters, with descriptive info on each)
- Equality 7-2521- He is the main character narrating the story and he is a trouble maker. He is very smart, does well in school, and is very curious about the Earth and how things work, and he hoped to be assigned the job of being a scholar. Most everything he thinks and does is illegal in their society.
- International 4-8818- He is the best friend of Equality 7-2521, but he tends to be more cautious than his good friend. When Equality wanted to venture down into the tunnel he refused, insisting that what he was doing was forbidden.
- Union 5-3992- He is the sickly mentally challenged boy that Equality 7-2521 tried to be like in school so his brightness would not be recognized. It also seems like the other boys kind of watch out for him a little.

- Equality 7-2521 has found a tunnel and know goes their to be alone.
- Equality 7-2521 lives at the home of the street sweeper where all of the workers sleep and eat.
